Tasche Zidney

Juhuuuu :)

While browsing the Creadienstags-Postings last week, I found the wonderful Zidney-bag from Maikaefer! I was intrigued and browsed on to the blog of Binimey, the pattern designer. And when I saw, that she is still looking for pattern testers, I wrote to her right away. And just a short while later I got an email - I can test the pattern!!! Yaaay :)

With the e-book "Zidney" from Binimey you get a detailled tutorial with lots of pictures and the pattern. She describes every single step - the pattern is great for beginners too! The bag consists of several pattern pieces and because of the angled fabric pieces in the front it gets a wonderful look! And the best thing is - you don't even have to sew in a zipper *gg*. That was a first for me - no zipper at all in a bag - the bag is being closed by a magnet and on the front I used a matching kam snap.

 photo zidney1-1_zpsjlnyfvvt.jpg

For the first time I included a carabiner that makes it really easy to find your keys. Why oh why didn't I do this earlier? :) Inside the bag there is a small compartment on the side for the smartphone and other stuff. And in the front pockets there is a lot of space too!

 photo zidney1-2_zpscd9vgmyr.jpg

Basically I followed all the steps from the pattern. But I changed quite a bit with the interfacing. For the main bag I used my favorite bag-interfacing "Soft and Stable" by Annies. I have to say, that for this special bag it isn't really necessary, I think H630 (as suggested in the pattern) would do it too. But in addition I used H630 for the front pocket and H200 for the diagonal pockets. I think that this gives the whole bag added stability.
The green fabric is from London. The blue main fabric is a really wonderful linen fabric from the "Stoffwerkstatt" in Graz, as well as the blue-green fabric. For the lining I used a really soft fabric, that I bought in Vienna. When I sewed up the top of the bag, I stitched in a way that the lining shows a little on the outside.

I just love this bag! Not only, but also, because it is blue-green :) I am sure that I will sew another one... Maybe with berry-colored fabric... hmmmm ;)

One can always use little pouches! And give them away too ;) I really like to sew little things like that, you can make them pretty fast, you don't need that much of fabric, at most times no pattern and you can be creative...

I made the first pouch for my aunt. It was a present when we visited her and my uncle in Villach. I knew she had a blue bathroom, so I searched in my blue scrap bin and made it out of scraps from my bedroom-quilt (which is far from finished^^). The outside is quilted and the inside is made out of an old "dirndl"-fabric from my grandmother. I didn't use a pattern, just had some inspiration from the internet.

Erstmals habe ich "Soft and Stable" verwendet!

I gifted the second pouch just this weekend. My boyfriend's niece turned 18. And a woman always needs something to put things in, right? In general I used the "Open Wide Zippered Pouch by Noodlehead" pattern. I used "Soft and Stable" for the first time and I'm loving it! The pouch really stands up on it's own and feels wonderful! The main fabric is a treasure from London and the rest from my stash. And we filled it with yummy chocolate :)

Yes, I still exist ;)
I had my big exam 3 weeks ago. Before that I didn't have time to sew and after I didn't have the creativity. But I finished some projects and that is why I can finally show you something new...

My boyfriends mother turned 60 at the end of may. And because she liked my first quilt so much, I decided to make her her own quilt for her birthday. I found the book "City Sampler by Tula Pink" and immediately knew that this is what I wanted to make - a quilt with 60 blocks out of this book with her favorite colors yellow-orange-red-brown-beige.

 photo heidiquilt2_zpsftmvspnz.jpg

I actually started in january but nearing the end it got a little stressful! The blocks as well as the binding are made of several scraps. Sashing and backing are made from a creme-colored cotton fabric. It is the same fabric my boyfriend's mother used for her curtains. I quilted straight lines with the walking foot, about 1/2 inch away from the blocks.

 photo heidiquilt3_zpslfqxdiqb.jpg

And finally a quilt of mine has a label ;) I wrote with fabric markers onto a piece of fabric and included it into the binding. Oh and the batting is "Warm and Natural" - I will for sure use that again! Sooo great to work with!
Plus it is the biggest quilt I've made so far - 40.5x76.5 inches. But worked fine with my sewing machine!

 photo heidiquilt4_zpspm93byxk.jpg

The birthay girl was really happy about it, she even had some tears in her eyes while unpacking it ;)

First I want to apologize for being absent for so long. The last weeks were crazy!
I started at a new courthouse, I was with a friend in London, my boyfriend's birthday was last week and someone stole my bike :( But now everything is quiet again and I finally have time to show you my new wallett! Actually it is much more than just a wallet, but more about that later!

I looked for a wallet with enough space for all my cards, money, smartphone + keys. And finally I found the Sew Necessary Clutch! The pattern isn't that cheap but worth it! The instructions are well written and there are lots of pictures too. It even shows you how to insert the twist-lock!

You can't imagine how long it took me to decide on some fabrics *gg* After quite some testing I made a forest-animal-wallet! Especially because I adore the little fox, elk and the bear on the grey fabric...

 photo waldtiere1_zpsjvvzbefj.jpg

Inside there are many slots for cards, a zip pouch and enough space for smartphone and keys.

 photo waldtiere2_zpsl5ybuv72.jpg
Da muss man gaaaanz langsam nähen!

The wallet was generally pretty easy to sew, I interfaced with Vlieseline H630. But the side seams were really hard to do and even my sewing machine did have problems with them. You have to sew them very very slowly!!

die erste SewTogether-Bag

Hallo!

Hi! I want to show you my newest project. I've wanted to sew the Sew Together Bag for a while now because I've seen a lot of beautiful ones on the internet. And last weekend I did it. But the bag is not for me. It is a present for my boss. Who also sews. I gave the bag to her yesterday and she was so happy about it!

I sewed only with fabrics from my stash! YES... it is possible *gg* I really love the fabrics together, the green with grey and turqoise - I almost wanted to keep the bag for myself!

 photo stb1-1_zpsqlnjp9d5.jpg

I really have to sew one for myself too! I especially love the little pin cushion!

 photo stb1-2_zps1jp1ncp8.jpg

The bag wasn't really that hard to sew! Especially the long zipper was quite easy to do!

So... jetzt mal schnell zu

Cuddle Me!

Now it happened - I catched it too *gg* After I've seen all those amazing cardigans online I had to make a Cuddle Me myself!

So... and that's my cardigan! On the outside there is wonderfully soft, grey jersey and on the inside there is a white and grey striped jersey that is terribly thin and stretchy. I bought it online for a steal. It is wonderful on the skin but way too thin and transparent to use it alone. And I will tell you one thing - the sewing of it was terrible! But I did it and I think the striped lining looks great ;) I added 20cm to the length of the sleeves and didn't use the cuffs - I really don't like those wide cuffs! The collar is made out of red jersey. At first I wanted to use a black one but now I really like the color on it!

 photo cuddleme1-1_zpsb7gvtlz4.jpg

The pattern is from Schaumzucker and really well done! There are different options to sew the cardigan, for every step there is a picture and the sewing is really easy! I sewed mine in 2 hours - including cutting and the fact that I made a lined version!

 photo cuddleme1-2_zpskeo5oqlz.jpg

Even though the photos are awful (the day was sooo dark and rainy and my friend was in a hurry^^) - as you can see, I love the cardigan! :)

Und nun darf der noch zum

Blue Nines Quilt

Yay - the quilt for my mother is finally finished! :) Well okay, I finished it almost 2 weeks ago ;) But I had absolutely no time for blogging in the meantime :(

I named it "Blue Nines Quilt". The pattern is a "disappearing-nine-patch" and the quilt is obviously blue. With some colorful spots. It already found a home in my mother's living room and it fits perfectly with the rest of the furniture and decoration.

 photo bluenine1_zpsiy6xxjyx.jpg

The backing is a really soft blue fleece. Phew, that was not easy to quilt! The fleece stretches and it doesn't go easily through the machine! But with lots of patience and the walking foot it worked. I used varigated blue thready and I quilted diagonally with a space of 2 inches between the lines. At first I wanted to make a grid but then I liked it like that.

 photo bluenine1_zpsiy6xxjyx.jpg

The only thing missing is the label. I will attach that at my next visit with my parent's.
