Stufenrock

Heute möchte ich meinen neuen Lieblingsrock zeigen!
Als ich die neueste Fashion&Style in der Hand hatte und darin den langen Sommerrock entdeckt habe, wusste ich sofort, dass der perfekt für meine Mama ist. Denn die liebt so lange Röcke. Also haben wir ihr letztes Wochenende einen aus schwarzer Baumwolle genäht. Sie hat mir nämlich beim Ausschneiden von Schnittmuster und Stoff geholfen und mich während des Nähens mit Getränken und Essen versorgt - sehr praktisch *hihi* Den Rock von meiner Mama zeige ich euch aber ein ander mal! Denn für mich selbst habe ich aus dem gleichen Schnittmuster auch etwas genäht...

Today I want to show you my new favorite skirt!
When I read the new Fashion&Style and saw the wonderful, long summer skirt, I immediately knew that it is perfect for my mother. She loves long skirts. So last weekend we sewed the skirt for her, with black cotton fabric. She actually helped me by cutting the pattern und fabric and made drinks and meals for me while I was sewing - very nice *hehe* I'll show you my mother's skirt another time though. I sewed something for myself from the same pattern...

Kann jemand erkennen, was der Stoff im früheren Leben einmal war? Ja genau - das war mal ne Ikea-Bettwäsche ;) Die blauen Punkte haben mir sofort gefallen und dann war sie auch noch verbilligt. Ein Paket Bettwäsche reicht grundsätzlich locker für so einen Rock. Allerdings wollte ich, dass die Punkte von oben nach unten gleichmäßig größer werden. Daher habe ich dann schon einiges an Stoff verbraucht und beim Zuschneiden ganz genau schauen müssen.

Can you see what the skirt is made out of? Right - that was once a bedding from Ikea ;) I just love the blue dots and it was on sale too. One piece of bedding is usually more than enough for such a skirt. But I wanted the dots to gradually become bigger. So I used quite a lot of fabric and had to look very closely while cutting out the pieces.

Der Rock ist sehr einfach zu nähen, eigentlich besteht er nur aus Rechtecken, die dann gekräuselt und zusammengenäht werden ;) Obenrum ist ein Gummizug eingenäht - sehr bequem! Im Schnittmuster ist der Gummibund ganz kompliziert erklärt und mit Bindeband und was weiß ich noch genäht. Ich hab das drastisch vereinfacht- Gummiband, Stoff drum rum, annähen ;)

The skirt is very easy to sew, it actually only consists of rectangles, which you pleat and sew together ;) There is an elastic too - very comfortable! In the pattern the sewing process of the elastic is very hard to follow and has an additional bow and and and... But I made that quite simple - just elastic, fabric on the outside, sew to the skirt ;)

Durch die Baumwoll-Bettwäsche ist der Rock sehr angenehm auf der Haut, bequem, schwingt im Wind und beim Gehen und sieht auch noch klasse aus!
Bitte entschuldigt die Bilderflut - ich konnte meinen Freund endlich dazu bringen, ein kleines Shooting mit mir zu machen. Und dann hat es richtig Spaß gemacht auf der Schaukel. Die Nachbarn haben wahrscheinlich gedacht wir spinnen *hihi*

Because of the cotton-bedding the skirt is very soft on the skin, comfortable and moves nicely in the wind and while walking. And it looks great too!
Please excuse the amount of pictures - I finally got my boyfriend to make a photo shooting with me. And then it was really fun on the swing. I guess the neighbours were thinking we're nuts *hehe*

Hollyburn Skirt

Letztes Wochenende hatte ich Lust darauf, mir einen Rock zu nähen.
Der Stoff war schnell gefunden - ein grauer Woll-Anzugs-Stoff, den ich für ein paar Euro bei meinem letzten Wien-Besuch erstanden habe. Ursprünglich wollte ich mir einen Bleistiftrock nähen, aber dann bin ich über das Hollyburn Schnittmuster gestolpert. Ich liebe diesen Schnitt! Ich dachte, dass das gut zu dem Stoff passt.

Last weekend I wanted to sew a skirt.
I decided on a fabric pretty fast - a grey woolen fabric that I bought for just a few euros on my last trip to vienna. Initially I wanted to make a pencil skirt but then I found the Hollyburn-pattern. I love that pattern! And I thought that it fits well with the fabric.

Der Schnitt ist zwar nicht ganz billig aber jeden Euro wert wie ich finde. Die Anleitung ist toll und der Rock wirklich schnell genäht. Alles in allem habe ich glaube ich einen halben Tag gebraucht (inklusive Schnittmuster drucken, kleben, ausschneiden, Stoff ausschneiden, bügeln usw.)
Genäht habe ich grundsätzlich mit der "normalen" Nähmaschine, ich habe aber vor dem Zusammennähen alle Nähte mit der Overlock versäubert. Ich mag das gern - sieht toll aus und lässt sich nachher super leicht nähen.

The pattern isn't really cheap but worth every penny. The instructions are awesome and the skirt comes together quickly. All in all it took me about half a day (including pattern printing, glueing, cutting, cutting fabric, pressig etc.)
I sewed with my standard sewing machine, but I finished all seams with my serger before I sew the pieces together. I really like it that way - looks great from the inside and is super easy to sew.



 Ich finde er ist super gelungen. Besonders toll finde ich die Zierknöpfe und die Taschen - jaa vor allem die Taschen! Taschen kann man ja IMMER brauchen *gg* und diese sehen auch noch so super aus und sind einfach genäht! Außerdem hatte ich noch einen schönen, farblich passenden Naht-Reißverschluss zu Hause. Und das Einnähen davon ist erstaunlich gut gelungen :)

I really like the skirt. I especially love the pretty buttons and the pockets -YES especially the pockets! :) One always needs pockets *gg* and these look pretty too and are easy to sew! And I had a matching zipper at home. Plus I am really happy how easy it was to sew the zipper :)



Leider sind die Farben auf den Detailfotos etwas verfälscht, in Wirklichkeit ist der Stoff ganz hellgrau, ohne Gelbstich. Jaja der Stoff... so ganz warm werde ich mit der Farbe ja nun nicht. Und leider knittert er sehr schnell, wie man auf dem Rückwärts-Foto leider sehen kann.

Unfortunately the colors on the detail pictures are not so good. The fabric is a really pale grey, without the yellow tone. And yes well, the fabric... I am not QUITE sure that I love the color. And unfortunately the fabric wrinkles easily as you can see on the back-photo.

Ich werde ihn - in Kombination mit Schwarz - aber sicher öfter tragen, denn der Rock ist bequem, hübsch und hat die praktischen Taschen. Und dann muss ich halt öfters bügeln. ;)

But I am going to wear the skirt - in combination with black. The skirt is comfortable, pretty and has those handy pockets. I guess I just have to iron it frequently ;)
