Badetasche Svea

Last year I wanted to sew a new wallett for my grandmother's 80th birthday. I wanted it to be big and with a zip because my grandmother always has a LOT of stuff in her wallett. I searched and found the pattern "Grete". I began sewing, cursed quite a lot and finally finished the wallett. My grandmother was happy about it but I wasn't all that pleased with it. And now in the last few feeks I saw a lot of really beautiful Gretes so I decided to give the pattern another try. And yay - precise sewing and cutting and almost 1 year more of sewing experience and I have a really pretty Grete!

 photo grete1-2_zpsa3f8u4ch.jpg

For a more durable wallett I used oilcloth (or better, plastic table-cloth from a hardware store^^). I matched the colors of the inside with that oilcloth. It is really colorful - but that's the way I like it! As interfacing for the outside I used Soft&Stable and this is great for this wallett.
The sewing of the three-side-zip was a little tricky, but I like my results. The last few stitches by hand I made with transparent thread. I just hope, that the oilcloth won't rip...

This time I sewed the small version but I've already cut a big one which is ready to sew on my table...

Juhuuuu :)

While browsing the Creadienstags-Postings last week, I found the wonderful Zidney-bag from Maikaefer! I was intrigued and browsed on to the blog of Binimey, the pattern designer. And when I saw, that she is still looking for pattern testers, I wrote to her right away. And just a short while later I got an email - I can test the pattern!!! Yaaay :)

With the e-book "Zidney" from Binimey you get a detailled tutorial with lots of pictures and the pattern. She describes every single step - the pattern is great for beginners too! The bag consists of several pattern pieces and because of the angled fabric pieces in the front it gets a wonderful look! And the best thing is - you don't even have to sew in a zipper *gg*. That was a first for me - no zipper at all in a bag - the bag is being closed by a magnet and on the front I used a matching kam snap.

For the first time I included a carabiner that makes it really easy to find your keys. Why oh why didn't I do this earlier? :) Inside the bag there is a small compartment on the side for the smartphone and other stuff. And in the front pockets there is a lot of space too!

Basically I followed all the steps from the pattern. But I changed quite a bit with the interfacing. For the main bag I used my favorite bag-interfacing "Soft and Stable" by Annies. I have to say, that for this special bag it isn't really necessary, I think H630 (as suggested in the pattern) would do it too. But in addition I used H630 for the front pocket and H200 for the diagonal pockets. I think that this gives the whole bag added stability.
The green fabric is from London. The blue main fabric is a really wonderful linen fabric from the "Stoffwerkstatt" in Graz, as well as the blue-green fabric. For the lining I used a really soft fabric, that I bought in Vienna. When I sewed up the top of the bag, I stitched in a way that the lining shows a little on the outside.

I just love this bag! Not only, but also, because it is blue-green :) I am sure that I will sew another one... Maybe with berry-colored fabric... hmmmm ;)

One can always use little pouches! And give them away too ;) I really like to sew little things like that, you can make them pretty fast, you don't need that much of fabric, at most times no pattern and you can be creative...

I made the first pouch for my aunt. It was a present when we visited her and my uncle in Villach. I knew she had a blue bathroom, so I searched in my blue scrap bin and made it out of scraps from my bedroom-quilt (which is far from finished^^). The outside is quilted and the inside is made out of an old "dirndl"-fabric from my grandmother. I didn't use a pattern, just had some inspiration from the internet.

Erstmals habe ich "Soft and Stable" verwendet!

I gifted the second pouch just this weekend. My boyfriend's niece turned 18. And a woman always needs something to put things in, right? In general I used the "Open Wide Zippered Pouch by Noodlehead" pattern. I used "Soft and Stable" for the first time and I'm loving it! The pouch really stands up on it's own and feels wonderful! The main fabric is a treasure from London and the rest from my stash. And we filled it with yummy chocolate :)
