Hex Hex...

... könnt ihr euch an den Bibi-Blocksberg Spruch erinnern? Ich hatte als kleines Mädchen Kassetten mit Bibi-Blocksberg Geschichten drauf, die ich immer an langen Fahrten in den Urlaub gehört habe.

... can you remember that Bibi-Blocksberg-saying? When I was a little girl I had some Bibi-Blocksberg-cassettes that I listened to when we were driving long distances.

Nachdem ich diese zwei Täschchen fertig hatte, musste ich gleich an "Hex Hex" denken. Passt doch, oder?

After finishing these two pouches I immediately had to think of "Hex Hex". Quite fitting, right?

Ich war ja vor ein paar Wochen alleine im Urlaub. Ich war 8 Tage lang mit dem Wohnmobil quer durchs Salzkammergut unterwegs. Es war richtig richtig schön! Und fad geworden ist mir alleine auch nicht. Denn abends habe ich begonnen, mich mit English Paper Piecing (EPP) zu beschäftigen. Das macht richtig Spaß! Mittlerweile hab ich einen richtigen Fundus von kleinen Sechsecken. Und aus einigen davon sind diese Täschchen entstanden.

Some weeks ago I was alone on a vacation. I drove 8 days with our mobile home through the beautiful "Salzkammergut". It was sooo great! And I didn't get bored either. In the evenings I started doing English Paper Piecing (EPP). That is so much fun! Since then I made quite a stash of little hexagons. And some of them are included in these pouches.


Das erste Täschchen ist inspiriert von der Sew-Together-Bag von Stoffexperimente. Mir hat die Kombi Leinen und bunte Baumwoll-Hexies bei ihr so gut gefallen! Die Hexies sind aus verschiedensten Stoffresten. Ich habe sie auf grobes Leinen appliziert, das ich mal von meiner Oma bekommen habe. Ich glaube der Stoff ist an die 50 Jahre alt :) Innen ist ein Patchwork-Stoff von Quilthome und dazu habe ich einen eher groben gelb-messingfarbenen Reißverschluss kombiniert.

Ich liebe dieses Täschchen!! Es hat genau die Maße von einem iPad-Mini. Könnt ihr den Holzfrosch im inneren sehen? Der muss herhalten, damit ich das Futter auch fotografieren kann ;)

The first pouch was inspired by Stoffexperimente's Sew-Together-Bag. I love the combination of linen and bright cotton-hexies. The hexies are made of several fabric scraps. I stitched them on coarse linen that I got from my grandmother. I think that fabric is about 50 years old :) The lining is a fabric from quilthome and I also used a big yellow-brass zipper.

I just love that pouch!! It has exactly the measurements of an iPad-Mini. Can you see the wooden frog peeping out? I use it to keep the pouch open so that I can take a picture of the lining ;)

Das zweite Täschchen besteht aus einigen Hexies mehr :) Viele dieser Stoffe sind Reste aus dem Tula-Pink-Quilt. Die Unterseite ist braunes Kunstleder und das Futter wieder ein Patchworkstoff von Quilthome. Diesmal habe ich einen zitronengelben Reißverschluss genommen und eine Quaste aus Leder dazu gebastelt.

Dieses Täschchen ist etwas kleiner als das erste und perfekt, um wichtige Kleinigkeiten in großen Taschen nicht zu verlieren.

The second pouch has some more hexies :) A lot of these fabrics are scraps from my Tula-Pink-Quilt. The bottom is brown faux leather and the lining is again quilting cotton from Quilthome. This time I used a lemon colored zipper and made a tassel out of leather scraps.

This pouch is a little smaller than the first. It is perfect for all the stuff you don't want to loose in big purses.

So... genug gehext für heute. Darum fliegen meine Täschchen zu

Ja, ich lebe noch!

Ja, mich gibt es tatsächlich noch ;)
Ich hatte ja vor 3 Wochen meine große Prüfung. Davor hatte ich keine Zeit zum Nähen und danach nicht wirklich so viel Lust. Ein bisschen was hab ich aber trotzdem fertiggestellt und so hab ich jetzt wieder was zum Herzeigen...

I had my big exam 3 weeks ago. Before that I didn't have time to sew and after I didn't have the creativity. But I finished some projects and that is why I can finally show you something new...

Die Mutter meines Freundes wurde Ende Mai 60. Und weil sie meinen allerersten Quilt so bewundert hat, wollte ich ihr einen eigenen zum Geburtstag schenken. Ich habe das Buch "City Sampler by Tula Pink" entdeckt und schon wusste ich, was ich machen will - einen Quilt mit 60 Blöcken aus dem Buch, das ganze in ihren Lieblingsfarben Gelb-Orange-Rot-Braun-Beige.

My boyfriends mother turned 60 at the end of may. And because she liked my first quilt so much, I decided to make her her own quilt for her birthday. I found the book "City Sampler by Tula Pink" and immediately knew that this is what I wanted to make - a quilt with 60 blocks out of this book with her favorite colors yellow-orange-red-brown-beige.




Angefangen habe ich "eh schon" im Jänner aber zum Schluss hin wurde es dann nochmal richtig stressig! Die Blöcke sind aus unterschiedlichsten Resten genäht, ebenso das Binding. Sashing und Rückseite sind aus einem cremefarbenen Baumwollstoff. Das ist der gleiche Stoff, den die Mutter meines Freundes für ihre Vorhänge verwendet hat. Gequiltet habe ich mit dem Obertransport - gerade Linien jeweils mit etwas Abstand zu den Blöcken.

I actually started in january but nearing the end it got a little stressful! The blocks as well as the binding are made of several scraps. Sashing and backing are made from a creme-colored cotton fabric. It is the same fabric my boyfriend's mother used for her curtains. I quilted straight lines with the walking foot, about 1/2 inch away from the blocks.




Und endlich hat ein Quilt von mir auch mal ein Label ;) Ganz einfach mit Stoffstiften auf ein Stück Stoff geschrieben und mit dem Binding mitgefasst. Ach ja - das Vlies innen ist "Warm and Natural" - und das werde ich ganz sicher wieder verwenden! Sooo toll zu verarbeiten!
Außerdem ist es der größte Quilt, den ich bisher gemacht habe - 103x195cm. Hat aber prima geklappt mit meinem Maschinchen!

And finally a quilt of mine has a label ;) I wrote with fabric markers onto a piece of fabric and included it into the binding. Oh and the batting is "Warm and Natural" - I will for sure use that again! Sooo great to work with! 
Plus it is the biggest quilt I've made so far - 40.5x76.5 inches. But worked fine with my sewing machine!




Das Geburtstagskind hat sich wahnsinnig gefreut, sie hatte sogar Tränen in den Augen beim Auspacken ;)

The birthay girl was really happy about it, she even had some tears in her eyes while unpacking it ;)
